Welcome to our summer home on the island of Alonissos. We came here for the first time in 1982. We immediately fell in love with this peaceful place in the Mediterranean Sea,
far from the touristic Greek islands.
In the ancient, mostly ruined village atop a mountain, we found and bought 3 common-walled stone houses. From the port, a rough dirt track led up the steep hill. There was no electricity or other facilities one would expect in a holiday resort in Europe.
Here was our challenge and we loved it.
We restored the houses, creating a single 7-room-house. The front of the house is south-facing with the rear tucked into the mountain. A seperate fourth house, one level down the hill, has a flat roof providing us with a deck for outdoor dining and entertaining.
Over the years, we purchased a fourth adjacent house and five adjacent plots of land, protecting our unobstructed view of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, the distant island of Evia and the upper part of the Old Village, dating back to Mycanaen times. In 1989, electricity became available, making village life easier.
Now the time has come for us to say goodbye to the island. We hope you will discover the magic and appreciate the spirit of this place, which has been a second home for us and our family
for so many years.
